Residents of the western Indian state of Gujarat, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state, began arriving at polling stations to vote in the state’s local elections on Thursday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is projected to win a majority of 182 seats, marking a seventh straight term in the office for the party.

Modi led Gujarat for about 13 years before becoming the country’s prime minister in 2014. Modi has been campaigning in the state, speaking at several meetings with supporters recently.
