Brazilian football legend Pele was hospitalized in Sao Paulo on Wednesday to receive medication for his ongoing battle with a colon tumour.
The 82-year-old was admitted to Sao Paulo’s Hospital Albert Einstein with swelling, but his daughter, Kely Nascimento, has said there was ‘no emergency’.
Pele had a tumour removed from his colon last September and has since been having regular treatment at the hospital.
It was reported at the time that the tumour was discovered during a routine cardiovascular exam and that Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known internationally as Pele, would need to undergo chemotherapy.
Pele remains Brazil’s top goal-scorer with 77 goals in 92 matches.
