Hundreds of Moroccan fans celebrated in Doha on Thursday as the Atlas Lions defeated Canada in their third group match and qualified for the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup.
“Indeed people are very happy and we congratulate Morocco from the bottom of our hearts,” said football fan, Mohammed Megahed.

“That is a great honour to all the Arab people that Moroccans have topped their group to pass through to the next stage.,” said Tariq el Hejira, a Moroccan fan.
“It is a great joy for the people. This victory is for Morocco and the entire Arab world. If Allah allows us, we will go to the finals and become champions. Morocco is number one,” added another fan of the reds.
The 2;1 win for a dominant Morocco clinched them the top spot in F Group and a place in the last 16 for the first time since the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.
