Australia: Fans celebrate in Melbourne as ‘Socceroos’ stun Denmark to qualify for World Cup knockout stages

Australian fans took to the streets of Melbourne at 4 am on Wednesday chanting with flares, following Australia’s FIFA World Cup 2022 victory over Denmark.

Footage shows hundreds of people jumping, singing songs and lighting flares and fireworks.

Australia beat Denmark 1-0 in Qatar to reach the World Cup knockout stages for the first time since 2006. The win was the second of the ‘Socceroos’ in Group D, and sees them finished in second place behind France.

Australia will face Argentina on Sunday, December 4th.
