Fans of Qatar were disappointed after their team’s World Cup journey ended on Tuesday with a 0-2 defeat to the Netherlands in Al Khor.
“I think they should do better; we expected more from them,” Adel, a Qatar supporter, said, sharing his hopes that Qatar will “do better in the next World Cups”.
Other fans said they hoped the team qualifies for future competitions and that this World Cup was a good experience for Qatar.
Qatar was officially eliminated from the World Cup following a 1-3 defeat to Senegal last Friday in a game that saw Qatar make history by scoring their first ever World Cup goal.
In their three group stage games against the African champions, Ecuador, and the Netherlands, Qatar scored just one goal and conceded seven, officially becoming the worst-performing World Cup host nation since the introduction of the competition in 1930.
