Street barriers were installed in Shanghai as anti-COVID restriction protests hit major cities.
Footage filmed on Monday features plastic and metal constructions alongside the empty roads as well as workers installing them.
The protests started on Friday, November 25, in Urumqi after footage emerged of a fire in a residential building that reportedly killed at least 10 people. Some demonstrators blamed the COVID lockdown for making the situation worse, while Chinese media outlets reported that the building was ‘low risk’ and that people could come and go.
