Spain: ‘We are going backwards’ – Thousands march in Seville to demand better healthcare

Thousands of people marched through the streets of Seville on Saturday to demand greater investment in public health.

The demonstrators were seen beating drums and waving flags and banners as they marched from San Telmo Palace to the Plaza de la Encarnacin.

“I’m protesting today for more money and health, well more money and a healthcare system that gives dignity to everyone,” said one protester.

“In my town, although it has 4,500 inhabitants, there are only two doctors and this summer a doctor had to leave with tremendous anxiety, this is not in keeping with the times we are going backwards,” said another.

The demonstrators were also demanding face-to-face care within 48 hours of making an appointment and more investment to deal with rural emergencies.
