At least one person died and up to 12 others were missing after torrential rain triggered a landslide on the island of Ischia on Saturday.
Footage shows destruction across the port city of Casamicciola Terme, including flooded streets and damaged vehicles and roads, while search and rescue operations were underway.
Eight people have been rescued according to local authorities with rescuers expected to continue working throughout the night.
