The Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Roman Golovchenko met with Syrian officials at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in Damascus to strengthen relations on Wednesday.
Syria and Belarusian delegates signed six agreements and memorandums covering trade, economy and education policies.
“The meeting we had today was at a high level of understanding between the two delegations, and we took the first steps to enable economic relations between the two countries,” Golovchenko said.
“The challenges (facing the two countries) require more cooperation and joint coordination in the interest of the two friendly peoples to achieve stability and peace,” he added.
Trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Syria has become more important to both sides as they feel the effects of western sanctions.
