Sudan: Police use tear gas as hundreds rally against military coup in Khartoum

Police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse activists rallying in Khartoum on Wednesday, as hundreds protested against last year’s military coup and demanded a civilian government.

Footage shows the latest in a series of demonstrations in the Sudanese capital, with protesters marching with flags and banners.

On October 25, 2021, the army chief, Lieutenant-General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, imposed measures that ended all the pledges he had taken two years earlier to share power with civilians, and declared a state of emergency.
