USA: ‘No ballot stuffing, no fowl play’ – Biden pardons Thanksgiving turkeys

US President Joe Biden welcomed the holiday season at the White House on Monday with the annual pardoning of a Thanksgiving turkey.

US President Joe Biden welcomed the holiday season at the White House on Monday with the annual pardoning of a Thanksgiving turkey.

The tradition, now in its 75th year, sees the sitting US President pardon two turkeys and spare them from the Thanksgiving dinner table. This was the second year with Joe Biden acting as host.

Biden used the opportunity to make light of the Republican party, following a disappointing showing in the midterm elections.

“First of all, the votes are in. They’ve been counted and verified. There’s no ballot stuffing. There’s no fowl play. The only red wave this season is going to be if my German shepherd Commander knocks over the cranberry sauce on our table,” the President quipped.

Turkeys Chocolate and Chip received Biden’s Presidential pardon and will now live out the rest of their lives on the campus of North Carolina State University.
