As the World Cup began on Sunday, massive 70-meter flags were hoisted in a Sao Paulo neighbourhood to demonstrate support for Brazil.
“We wait for the sixth now, with Neymar, Paqueta, Vinicius jr in the attack, Richarlison destroying everything, we hope for the best possible this star will become the biggest of all, it is Brazil,” stated football fan Bruno.
Footage shows hundreds of fans wearing Brazil jerseys took photos of the waving flags, beating drums and dancing.
“It is always an amazing feeling! People say they get used to it, but the feeling on the day is always wonderful,” said football fan Julia.
Local media reports that since the 1998 World Cup, residents of the Parque dos Passaros housing complex have been raising money for the yearly flags they make themselves.
