Several thousands of people marched in Paris on Saturday to demand further action on gender violence from the authorities.
Protesters marched with signs and banners across the French capital, chanting slogans and demanding a new framework law on gender violence.
“We don’t necessarily feel safe and protected, and this is not normal in 2022,” said one of the participants in the march.
An average of 225,000 women a year reportedly suffer violence from current or former partners. Similar protests took place in other cities across the country.
The marches were organised by NousToutes (All of Us) groups, ahead of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, hold on November 25.
