Russia: Putin holds first in-person meeting of Security Council since Ukraine conflict


Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday held the first in-person meeting with the Security Council permanent members since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine.

“Today a planned issue from the Ministry of Emergency Situations is on our agenda. The Ministry of Emergency Situations suggests discussions on the issues of civil defenсe improvement,” the Russian leader said.

The meeting continued behind closed doors. The Kremlin press-service reported that Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitri Medvedev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Federal Security Service director Alexander Bortnikov and others attended the meeting.
