Residents of Murmansk were able to enjoy one of the world’s most beautiful and mysterious natural phenomena; the Northern Lights.
Footage taken on Friday shows the sky lit up with the shimmering green colour.
The Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, occur when charged particles in the Earth’s upper atmosphere interact with gas particles, producing small flashes of light.
In Russia’s northern latitudes, they can be seen from September to April, and sometimes even in August.
