The Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Operations Shin-cheol Kang announced that Seoul will respond ‘sternly’ to Pyongyang’s launching of three ballistic missiles, one of which landed close to South Korea’s waters, during a press conference in Seoul on Wednesday.
Kang went on to say that one of the missiles fell south of the Northern Limit Line, ‘for the first time’ since the Korean War ended.
“It’s very rare and absolutely intolerable. Our military will sternly respond to it. We declare that our military will respond decisively to this,” he added.
Later, the JCS declared that up to 10 missiles of various types were launched from the east and west coasts of North Korea.
Pyongyang’s test-firing came after Seoul and Washington conducted their largest joint air drills, “Awakening Storm.”
