Heavily equipped police officers guarded a protest on a highway in Barueri on Monday.
Footage shows hundreds of protesters gathering on the Castelo Branco highway, carrying Brazilian flags or signs, while police officers with riot gear regulated the traffic of protesters. Heavy and armoured police vehicles were also seen in service.
“We are Bolsonaro [supporters] here and we will stay here 72 hours straight,” said a protester.
The peaceful settlement between police officers and protesters did not succeed, according to local media, resulting in the use of tear gas to disperse protesters and clear lanes for traffic movement.
