Thousands of Hindus attended the Chhath Puja festival on the banks of the Yamuna River at the Kalindi Kunj Bridge in New Delhi on Sunday.
This year’s celebration began on October 28 and continues for four days until October 31. It is one of the most popular festivals for the people in northeastern Indian states and parts of Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
Believers bring their offerings in bamboo baskets full of wheat, milk, sugar cane, bananas and coconuts to the sun god Surya, according to Hindu tradition, they make these offerings to Surya and his wife, Usha, to express gratitude and seek their blessings.
