The fraud case involving Paris Saint-Germain striker Neymar and former FC Barcelona President Sandro Rosell came to a close on Monday, with prosecutors at Barcelona’s High Court of Justice dropping all charges.
The football star was facing a two-year jail sentence and €10 million fine after allegations that the true cost of his transfer from Brazilian football club Santos to Barcelona in 2013 had been concealed from Brazilian Investment Company DIS.
DIS owned 40 per cent of Neymar’s when he signed with them while playing at Santos. The investment firm claimed he was sold to the Spanish club without their consent and that the transfer was deliberately undervalued.
