Hundreds of Flamengo’s fans gathered in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday to celebrate the team’s victory in the Copa Libertadores title after topping Athletico 1- 0 in the final.
Footage shows fans wearing Flamengo’s jerseys, waving flags and cheering while watching the final, before celebrating the victory.
Gabriel Barbosa scored the only goal in the 49th minute in a half-full Metropolitano Stadium in Ecuador.
“It’s the third final in four years, very significant. It was epic in 2019 and even more epic now, and a very cool story of redemption, with a change of coach. I’m very happy, great to see Flamengo champion,” a Flamengo fan said.
Flamengo also raised the titles of Copa Libertadores in 1981 and 2019. The Copa Libertadores is considered the most prestigious competition in South American club football.
