Commander in Chief of the Revolutionary Guards Corps issued a stark warning to Iranian protesters as Shiraz paid tribute to the victims of a Wednesday attack that had killed 15 people at Shah Cheragh mosque.
“Today is the last day of the riots. Do not come to the streets again?” said Salami in what is believed to be one of the starkest warnings to the protesters who have been taking to the streets in the aftermath of Mahsa Amini’s death.
As many as 13 worshippers including women and children were killed and dozens were wounded in the attack on the Shi’ite holy site.
Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the shooting. According to media reports, the attack is not believed to be related to the protests over the death of Mahsa Amini.
