IAEA’s Director General Rafael Grossi said the negotiations to secure a protection zone around the Zapoozhye Nuclear Power Plant taking ‘far too long’, speaking to media following the UN Security Council meeting in New York City on Thursday.
“I think we have come to a point where everybody agrees that there must be a protection zone, we are discussing about the parameters but this discussion is taking far too long,” Grossi stated, adding that he would ‘keep pushing.’
The discussions over the protection zone for Ukraine and Europe’s biggest nuclear power plant have been ongoing since late September with various world leaders and members of civic society.
