The Tamils of South India have a number of “Rites of Passage” ceremonies. For Tamil girls these include Naming, Ear Piercing and Coming of Age, as well as Marriage and Cremation. We were privileged to be invited to a Kadhani Vizha (“Ear Boring”) function recently. Kadhani Vizha (also Kaadhu Kutthal) is the Tamil name for this ceremony. Karnavedha is the Sanskrit name. We took photos so we could show this to you.
