Streets in of the city Samarkand can be seen decorated as part of the preparation for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State meeting.
Footage filmed on Friday features the SCO member states flags placed along the roads as well, as the various art objects and the historic Registan Square in the heart of Samarkand.
Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry reported that the meeting would be attended by 15 heads of state, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, as well as the leaders of Belarus, Turkey, Armenia, and other SCO member states.
On Thursday, September 8, spokesperson for Uzbekistan’s president Sherzod Asadov, posted on his Telegram channel that the event will be the first face-to-face meeting of SCO leaders since 2019.
The summit will be held in Samarkand from September 15 to 16.
